Ziming is currently a fifth year PhD student in Classics, specializing in ancient Greek pottery and the complicated relationships between antiquity and modernity. Her dissertation aims to re-examine Attic pottery as interactive objects through the lens of playfulness and play.

Ziming has been teaching in a university context since 2015, and is deeply invested in building community, empathy, and good vibes in the classroom. Her goal is to make sure that students feel empowered in their own knowledge and learning, to make discoveries on their own terms, and to have fun while doing it! She owes her dedicated teaching philosophy to her kind and generous mentors in New Zealand, who continue to inspire her from across the ocean. Ziming is also a Wurtele Gallery Teacher, where she has the privilege of working with the greater New Haven community in the space of the Yale University Art Gallery. When she is not teaching or playing with pots, she likes to cook.
