Rick Leone
Rick directs the day-to-day operation of the Yale Broadcast Studio and its staff. His 25 years of production experience, mixed with his creative and technical skills, make him uniquely qualified to handle almost any problem that can arise. He started his career at the Yale School of Medicine in 1997 in the Biomedical Communications Department. During that time, he created and introduced new techniques of shooting and delivering the client’s message. That department later became known as the Med Media Group. As manager, he produced educational and commercial video projects. He engineered and produced the first intercontinental fully interactive classroom between the Curie Institute in Paris and the Yale School of Medicine in 1998. His team was instrumental in developing video for the web and expanded new methods in Distance Learning. The group merged with its central campus counter parts to form CMI2 and eventually the Yale Broadcast Studio. He has produced, engineered and directed Yale’s Class Day and Commencement ceremonies for the past 10 of 11 years. In 2020 he received the Linda K Lorimer award along with his teammates for the production and distribution of those events to the world. Rick has a variety of interests outside of Yale, which provide him with a wealth of mechanical and technical skills in many different disciplines which helps make him a more effective producer. Rick is an avid photographer and he and his wife Ann enjoy traveling.
