Audrey Holt
Audrey is a sixth-year PhD candidate in English studying Irish Literature and Narrative Theory, focusing on the cognitive overlap of literary and actual worlds in the minds of readers at times of social and political upheaval. She has taught several introductory composition classes on topics ranging from internet linguistics to the rise of metafiction, and her teaching foregrounds the process and practice of learning, asking how we learn and how we can express our knowledge rather than only what we know. As a McDougal Graduate Teaching Fellow, Audrey works to promote equitable teaching practices across the disciplines by collaborating with fellow instructors to recognize and interrogate the power structures behind institutionally entrenched modes of demonstrating knowledge. First and foremost, she aims to build a space for students to bring their own voices, experiences, and creative capacities into the classroom.
