New to Teaching at Yale

Shopping Period, officially called Course Selection Period, refers roughly to the first ten days of the semester wherein students “shop” for courses before finalizing their schedules.
In the undergraduate classroom, the usage of electronic devices is an area in which instructors may have strong opinions as well as confusion. Common challenges are whether to allow students to use mobile phones, tablets and/or laptops during class. Instructors may desire to have students utilize such technology for pedagogical or classroom purposes.
