Are you concerned that traditional essay assignment you just graded might not be reaching your whole class? Worried that some students might not find the weekly problem set as helpful as the professor thinks? Are you concerned that you won’t be able to be equitable toward students who don’t participate as much as they should, or don’t seem to understand something that you have explained a few times already? This workshop will help you think more broadly about what assignments and assessment mean, and develop and incorporate inclusive assessment in your classroom. You will walk away with evidence and practices required to implement an inclusive approach in your classroom. This workshop will include information on informal assessment useful to those in our teaching community without a lot of assigning agency, as well information for those who work as instructor of record or assign work.
