The Yale Center for Teaching and Learning is excited to offer alumni the opportunity to join Dr. Alan Kazdin in a private version of his online public course
Everyday Parenting: The ABCs of Child Rearing, hosted on Coursera.

The invitation is being extended exclusively to alumni from the graduating years of ‘13, ‘08, ‘03 and 1998. It’s culmination will coincide with Reunion Weekend where Dr. Kazdin will be a featured speaker. The experience will be offered free of charge as part of a new alumni outreach program.  To sign up simply reach out to us at yaleonlineed@gmail.com with your name, class year, and preferred email address.

The Course

Everyday Parenting was the 2017 recipient of Coursera’s Learners First Award given to, “the instructor(s) who best exemplifies the “Learners First” principle, as demonstrated by a combination of course ratings and course completions.” It currently holds a 4.9/5 star rating making it one of Yale’s most well liked offerings.

The course does not deal with abstract concepts but rather, provides learners with concrete methods to improve the effectiveness of their parenting. Alumni who complete it will learn how to: effectively praise and punish, deal with oppositional behavior, develop plans to reach unique parenting goals, and much more. Along the way Dr. Kazdin will shed light on misconceptions and ineffective techniques parents often rely on to no effect.

There are no prerequisites for this experience, though it helps if you are a parent of a child between toddler age and adolescence. We very much hope you will join us for this opportunity.

The Experience

The course will last 4 weeks, starting on Monday, April 30th. There are a limited number of spots available, so please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to enroll.
