Fundamentals of Teaching History

Open to anyone, though mostly focused on graduate students acting as first time Teaching Fellows.

What to Expect

Are you a new history TF eager to make this semester a success? Or a veteran looking to inject something fresh into your well-worn routine? This workshop will prepare you for the fundamentals of teaching history. From a building-blocks discussion of just what teaching history means in the modern academy, we will help you build out tools to ensure classroom success. You will leave our series being able to create fantastic, inclusive, lesson plans to meet your classroom goals, ask engaging discussion questions, manage difficult conversations, and be up-to-date on the latest theory and techniques of how students learn best. These workshops will be full of energy, inspire lively debate, and improve your teaching. Participating in at least three of the four sessions is required for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP).

Fridays: 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, and 11/4

Time: 3.30 - 5.00 PM
