Andrew Cavanagh is a postdoctoral research associate at the Center for Teaching and Learning. Andrew is funded by the National Science Foundation to examine student outcomes associated with the Summer Institutes on Scientific Teaching. To date, the Summer Institutes have trained over 1,700 undergraduate STEM faculty in evidence-based pedagogies to improve student learning experiences including active learning, formative assessment, and inclusive teaching. Andrew’s research focuses on individual and classroom influences on student achievement, including student buy-in to evidence-based teaching practices, growth mindset, trust, and engagement. Andrew holds a PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame.
