Yale’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will host a forum on how faculty are using digital technology to meet pedagogical goals, on October 2, 2017 from 1 – 4 p.m. The forum will have opening remarks followed by two panel discussions focused on teaching with digital technology. We hope to highlight a range teaching experiences and technology solutions by faculty from across the Yale community. The CTL will serve light refreshments.

Dr. Marvin Chun, Dean of Yale College, will reflect on his teaching experience and how he has incorporated technology into the classroom. Dean Chun is also the Richard M. Colgate Professor of Psychology and a Professor of Neurobiology.

“Yale College students have benefited greatly from Professor Chun’s dedication to teaching and learning, as evidenced by the popularity of his ‘Introduction to Psychology’ course and his teaching awards — the Lex Hixon Prize for Teaching Excellence in the Social Sciences and the Phi Beta Kappa William Clyde DeVane Award to recognize character, scholarship, and distinguished undergraduate teaching,” said Yale President Peter Salovey, upon the Dean Chun’s appointment.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Encourage the cross-pollination of ideas to facilitate teaching with digital technology tools.
  2. Discuss the culture of teaching and learning at Yale as it relates to digital technology and to the ways we can achieve more effective teaching for all students.
  3. Develop an understanding of resources and support available at the Center for Teaching and Learning as it relates to digital technology and faculty teaching initiatives.
